My approach

I primarily work using contemporary psychodynamic psychotherapy, a talk therapy which evolved from psychoanalytic therapies. My therapeutic perspective is unconditional positive regard of the person, which originates in humanistic psychotherapy. My approach is integrative, which means that the treatment adapts to your individual needs, using additional methods from other psychotherapy approaches – including:

  • Depth psychology & attachment theory
  • Person-centred therapy (Rogers)
  • Gestalt therapy (Perls)
  • Existential psychotherapy (Yalom)
  • Personality typology (C.G. Jung and others)
  • Mindfulness & relaxation exercises
  • Dreams & symbolism (C.G. Jung)
  • Transpersonal psychotherapy (Wilber and others)

Practice focus

Areas I specialise in are:

  • Life crises & stress
Relationships, work & studies, parental leave, midlife crisis, retirement, transitions (e.g. moving, job loss, separation, bereavement), chronic illness, loneliness, caring for relatives or living with a partner with mental illness, etc.
  • Self-esteem & identity issues
Lack of self-confidence, insecure self-image or the feeling of being “different” – e.g. shy or highly sensitive persons, gifted adults, artists & creatives, LGBTQIA+, expats or migrants, etc.
  • Difficult (early) life experiences
Childhood trauma or emotional neglect, experiences of bullying or exclusion, loss & trauma in the family (e.g. war evacuees or refugees), adult children of self-centred or mentally ill parents, etc.
